Import clearing & forwarding
Afrimed Shipping imports goods into South Africa on your behalf, using a network of international shipping agents to move cargo from origin port to your door. We handle agent coordination, customs clearance, duty payment and inland delivery, and guide first-time importers through the full process.

- Coordination with our international shipping agent network
- Freight booking and tracking from origin to South Africa
- SARS customs clearance and SAD 500 declaration filing
- Duty and tax calculation and payment
- Inland transport to your door, or warehousing if you need it
Many of our clients started off as first-time importers. We guide you through the process and advise on how to save costs, providing import solutions that get your products here on time with the least possible freight cost — whether that means consolidating cargo, choosing a different routing, or adjusting shipment timing.
That’s common. We walk first-time importers through documentation, likely duties, and realistic timelines before the shipment leaves origin, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Questions people ask us
Duty is based on the customs value of the goods and the tariff code (HS code) that applies to them, at the rate SARS publishes for that classification. Afrimed calculates the applicable duty and VAT as part of clearance for each shipment.
Yes — our cargo inspection service puts a trained agent on-site to handle the examination with a customs officer and arrange release, with a full report delivered to you afterward. See the cargo inspection page for details.
